Chris Scruton
Instructional Multimedia Consultant
I joined the Digital Media Center (DMC) staff in the late autumn of 1996. My main areas of responsibility include developing and managing the TEL Grant Program and TEL Seminar Series, working with the DMC's publications team, and consulting with University faculty members and instructors.
My primary consultation areas of expertise are interface and information design; scanning, visualization, and imaging; and problem-based/case-based learning. I'm particularly interested in the development and use of games and simulations in instruction, serving as co-principlal investigator with Nora Paul (from the Institute for New Media Studies) on a Minnesota Learning Innovations Council grant project exploring the feasibility of a post-graduate game and simulation studies certificate program.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and a Master of Science degree in scientific and technical communication from the University of Minnesota. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Rhetoric, where my research interests include visual communication and the development, diffusion, and cultural impact of communication technologies.
