Scott Barnard

Educational Technologies Coordinator, Senior Educational Technology Consultant

I perform two primary tasks at the Digital Media Center (DMC), Office of Information Technology (OIT).

As the DMC Educational Technologies Coordinator:

  • I am a member of the OIT Course Management System (CMS) Core Team. I share consultation issues that impact WebCT and Moodle support, bring client (faculty, design professionals) requests to meetings, and inform DMC team members about CMS support issues.
  • I help the DMC director communicate with Committee on Institutional Cooperation colleagues, BlackBoard staff members, and collegiate staff members about WebCT and Moodle issues.
  • I help staff the Academic Technologies Advisory Committee (ATAC) meetings and provide DMC updates that relate to academic technology issues.
  • I manage a process for scanning, reviewing, and informing the University community about course management systems and new software that needs to be integrated or symbiotic with our current systems, and work with other OIT CMS support staff members to determine a process for beginning central support of new software and involving the ATAC and other campus groups as appropriate in this process.
  • I coordinate with DMC development suite and hardware/software support consultants about needs for educational technology and emerging technology support; and coordinate and oversee any production services/projects that develop at the DMC.

As a Senior Educational Technology Consultant I consult with faculty and staff members about the creation of technology-enhanced instructional materials, especially about issues related to project management, the myU Portal, and emerging academic technologies.
