Use Our Services

We provide many services to University faculty members and their staff and student assistants for no charge or a reduced fee, often in collaboration with other staff members from Academic Computing, Office of Information Technology (OIT). We often collaborate with other units to provide these services as well, such as the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost (SVPP), collegiate units, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and the University Libraries.

Emerging Academic Technology Services

Engage in the conversation as we investigate on-the-horizon academic technologies. Comprised of staff from across the Office of Information Technology, we conduct research to pilot and evaluate emerging technologies like:

  • Moodle and other course management systems
  • podcasting with iTunes U
  • three-dimensional immersive environments
  • mobile technologies

Evaluation and Research Services

Partner with our research team as we explore the nature and effects of educational technology used in your department or college. We collaborate with faculty to evaluate technology initiatives and their impact on teaching and learning such as:

  • podcasting for large introductory courses
  • flexible classroom design and techniques
  • hybrid (physical and Web-based) learning
  • audience response systems

Faculty Development Programs and Consultation Services

Get help planning, designing and evaluating your courses and curricula that make use of educational technologies. Our consultants are available for short- and long-term projects like:

  • troubleshooting
  • developing software skills
  • teaching with technology
  • course design and redesign
  • grant writing

We also offer interdisciplinary, scholarly programs designed to facilitate technical skill building and pedagogical understanding.

Training Services

Join us to develop technology skills and knowledge through an array of training opportunities. We offer technology training in a variety of ways:

  • in-person classes
  • Web-based learning
  • instructor-led tutorials
  • workgroup seminars
  • customized presentations

Usability Services

Gain clearer uderstanding of your users' perspective and assess the usability of your Web sites and applications. We promote inclusive, user-centered design both within the University and to external communities through services like the following:

  • usability evaluation consulting
  • terminology reviews
  • content categorization (card-sort method)
  • focus groups
  • Web accessibility reviews
  • eye-tracking studies
