Quiz

These are basic multiple-choice style tests.

Examples

The first example is an unscored self-test. You can keep guessing until you find the right answer. The second example is a scored quiz. You only get one guess at each question, and at the end you are given your score.

Customization Instructions

To customize our Macromedia Flash MX quizzes for your own use, follow the steps below. If you are not yet familiar with the Flash MX interface, open Flash MX, select Tutorials from the Help menu, and select the Introduction to Flash MX tutorial.

1. Download a Template

2. Copy and Open the File

  1. Select the File menu and select Save As...
  2. Enter a new name in the File Name box.
  3. Select Save. (For best results, use only lowercase letters and numbers in the filename, no spaces or special characters. Your .swf and .html files will have the same name, and you will be less likely to experience problems uploading these files to a Web server if you use Web friendly file names.)

3. Optimize Your Desktop

the Actions window with the Expert option checked

The Actions window in Expert mode.

  1. Open the Scenes window, the Timeline, and the Actions window. All of these are in the Windows menu. Close all other windows so you can view each of these, and size and place them to your liking.
  2. You should have the Actions window in Expert mode. You can check or change this by selecting the options button on the top right of the Actions window.

4. Set the Correct Number of Questions

You will see in the Scenes window clapboard icons for each question with names "Question 1," "Question 2", etc. You can select a scene and delete it or copy it using the trash-can and duplicate icons at the bottom of the Scenes window. Do this to create the desired number of questions, renaming the copies appropriately.

5. Customize Each Question

For each question:

  1. select the correct scene in the scenes window
  2. make sure the first frame in the Scripts layer of the Timeline is selected, and
  3. view the Actions window
  4. follow the instructions in the Action window to set the question number, question, options, and correct answer

6. Test and Publish the Quiz

  1. Select Control: Test Movie to test your learning object.
  2. If you see problems, review the instructions and make corrections as needed.
  3. When you are ready, select File: Publish.
