Our evaluation and research team members can provide advice, for no charge, to University of Minnesota faculty members about integrating evaluation and assessment into teaching and learning projects that make use of educational technology.

Consultation Topics

Look to us for consultative help with the following:

  • quantitative research design (e.g., correlational and cross- sectional approaches, longitudinal studies, quasi-experiments);
  • qualitative research design (e.g., case studies, grounded theory, ethnography);
  • selection of data collection methods (e.g., observations, interviews, questionnaires, performance assessments);
  • survey design (e.g., question wording, survey layout);
  • survey implementation (e.g., delivery methods, sampling, response rates);
  • focus group and interview design (e.g., interview protocols, group dynamics);
  • classroom assessment techniques (e.g., minute paper, preconception check, background knowledge probe);
  • data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Transana, NVivo);
  • research and evaluation components of grant applications; and
  • evaluation strategies for informing instructional design.

Consultant Backgrounds

Our evaluation and assessment consultants have higher education teaching experience and graduate-level backgrounds in education, philosophy, quantitative methods in education, and technology in education.
