Educational Technologists Forum
The Educational Technologists Forum (ETF) is sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development and the Digital Media Center, Office of Information Technology.
Who
It is a group of instructional multimedia designers and developers from various colleges and units at the University of Minnesota.
What
The purpose of the ETF is to give instructional support staff members a a chance to meet, mingle, share ideas, and learn about new technologies.
Why
Many developers and designers work in relative isolation from one another. The ETF gives them a chance to learn from their peers and share their own expertise in an informal setting.
How
ETF meetings begin with snacks and an opportunity to mingle, and then members, Office of Information Technology staff members, and other guests give one or more presentations about a new technology, their current projects, or tips and tricks for using technology. Recent topics included developing multi-user interactions for UMConnect, podcasting lectures, using blogs and wikis in the classroom, and using Moodle.
When
Meetings are held every other month, usually at 3:00 in the afternoon on the fourth floor of Walter Library. Most sessions are 90 minutes.
