Digital Teaching Workshop
The Digital Teaching Workshop is sponsored by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and managed by the Digital Media Center (DMC), OIT.
Who
The program is offered to faculty and professional and administrative (P&A) instructors at the University who would like an overview of technology-enhanced learning (TEL).
What
Participants develop their pedagogical and technical skills in an integrated fashion and reinvigorate and/or enhance their teaching practices in a technology-rich environment. Once they have established a foundation, they apply what they have learned in the context of a learning community.
Why
During the workshop participants develop foundational skills and knowledge on integrating teaching with technology, with a group that is interdisciplinary yet shares common interests. The opt-in learning community provides participants the opportunity to continue development of skills and knowledge with the support of colleagues and consultants.
How
Over the course of a week and a half, instructors participate in an intensive workshop offered in a blended learning format. It is grounded in
- scholarship of teaching and learning,
- practices of TEL, and
- recent University of Minnesota faculty and student educational technology survey data.
Participants also can opt in to an ongoing learning community in which they can develop their own TEL activities or courses.
When
Registration opens in April. The workshop is offered in the late spring or early summer, and participants who opt to join the learning community meet monthly throughout the fall semester.
